We had dinner by the ocean at Rick Shores with a special visitor from Sydney who knows good food so we had to impress! And they certainly did as per usual. “Pan-Asian flavours in one of the Gold Coast’s most iconic locations. Focusing on fresh locally sourced produce with intention to share.” Their blurb says it all. I think this is my 6th or 7th visit and I am yet to taste something bad. The overall favourite (after the Bug rolls with sriracha of course) was definitely the Yellow Curry of king prawn, kaffir lime and crispy garlic – so sweet and moreish. Even the sauce was completely polished off.
Husband FE (Fussy Eater): FE loved the curry – but the Whole Roasted Lamb Shoulder, Smoked Tomato, Cumin, Sichuan won the day (or the night). The meat fell off the bone and it was a massive serving. 9/10
16yr old (Yes we had a birthday) VFE (Very Fussy Eater): Missed out!
22yr old LBF (Little Bit Fussy): 22LBF loved the Steamed Snapper, Lup Cheong, Dried Scallop, Mustard Greens – so perfectly cooked and so fresh. The Confit Potatoes, Red Kimchi, Wakame were also a hit. And of course her sweet tooth was won over by the incredible desseert – Granny Smith Apple, Ginger Crumble, Yoghurt, Coriander 10/10
Me FOF (Finder of Food): I loved it all! I think the prawn curry would definitely be the one I’d order again just for me! The Roasted Cauliflower, Teriyaki, Garlic, Togarashi was amazing as well. Perfectly cooked and just enough spice. 10/10
Value: Not cheap but you are getting the best position on the GC and incredible food.
Service: Awesome service – we had a lovely waitress who was always around but not annoyingly so. Drinks were kept topped up and food came out in good time.
Verdict: Awesome view, food and service! Remains a favourite.
